The Aurora Cape is a free, limited-time cape for Minecraft Java and Bedrock, released to celebrate Minecraft Dungeons II. What is the Aurora Cape?

The Aurora Cape is a promotional cape Mojang released on September 29, 2026, the week Minecraft Dungeons II launched. The official announcement calls it a colourful cape for players who want to celebrate a special occasion, and it is the only Dungeons II launch cape you can get without buying anything.

The design is a soft vertical gradient: cyan at the shoulders, then lilac, pink and peach, down to a lime-green hem, sprinkled with small white pixels like stars. The colours are borrowed from the Sift, the new dimension in Dungeons II. When you glide with an elytra, the wings take on the same pattern with a pale green-white outline and pointed tips.

Mojang artist Marc Watson says the cape began as a spare Dungeons II concept that he held on to and art-directed, with two more artists finishing the cape and the wings. It had been called “aurora” internally for a while, and by his count at least six people shaped the design over time.

How to get the Aurora Cape on Twitch (15 minutes)

Twitch is the most dependable route. It works in almost every country, and the code lands in your Twitch inventory automatically.

  1. Sign in to Twitch. Watch time only counts on a logged-in account. A free account is enough.

  2. Open the Minecraft Dungeons II category and pick a live stream with the Drops Enabled tag under its title.

  3. Watch for at least 15 minutes while the stream is live. VODs, clips and replays don't count. Keep the stream playing and check your progress on the Drops page whenever you like.

  4. Claim the reward in your Drops inventory (twitch.tv/drops/inventory). Once claimed, it shows a 25-character code.

  5. Copy the code and redeem it at minecraft.net/redeem (steps below).

Mojang's rules name Minecraft Dungeons II livestreams. Some players report that streams in the main Minecraft category counted too, but to be safe, stick to Dungeons II streams with Drops enabled.

How to get the Aurora Cape on TikTok (3 minutes)

TikTok is quicker, but it relies on TikTok's Game Rewards programme, which isn't available in every region.

  1. Update the TikTok app and sign in.

  2. Find a Minecraft Dungeons II LIVE with Game Rewards enabled. The quickest way is to search “Minecraft Dungeons II” and switch to the LIVE tab.

  3. Watch for at least 3 minutes while the creator is live.

  4. Open your TikTok notifications (Inbox). The reward with your code arrives there once you qualify.

  5. Copy the code and redeem it at minecraft.net/redeem.

Can't find any LIVE with rewards? Game Rewards is probably unavailable in your country. Use Twitch instead.

How to redeem your Aurora Cape code

  1. Go to minecraft.net/redeem. It is the only official page for this code.

  2. Sign in with the Microsoft account that owns Minecraft. The cape is attached to this account.

  3. Enter the 25-character code (five blocks of five characters) and confirm.

  4. The confirmation page may call the reward a “CCC Item”. That's expected: it is the Aurora Cape.

Redeem before October 31, 2026. After that date the code stops working, even if you earned it in time.

How to equip the Aurora Cape

Java Edition

  1. Open the Minecraft Launcher, select Minecraft: Java Edition and go to the Skins tab.

  2. Pick the Aurora Cape in the cape selector and save.

  3. In game, make sure Options → Skin Customization → Cape is set to ON, or nobody will see it.

Bedrock Edition

  1. From the main menu, open the Dressing Room and edit your character.

  2. Go to the Capes section and select the Aurora Cape.

  3. Play on the same Microsoft account you used to redeem the code.

Wearing an elytra? It picks up the Aurora design automatically while the cape is equipped.

Troubleshooting: missing code, invalid code, cape not showing

I watched for 15 minutes but have no code.

Check that the stream was a Minecraft Dungeons II stream with Drops enabled, that you were logged in, and that you watched it live. Then open twitch.tv/drops/inventory: rewards often wait there until you press Claim. Progress can take a few minutes to update.

My code says it's invalid or already used.

Each code works once, and there is a limit of one Aurora Cape per Microsoft account. Copy the code again without spaces and check that you're signed in with the right account. Codes are non-transferable, so a code someone posted online has almost certainly been taken already.

I redeemed it, but the cape isn't in Java Edition.

Fully close and reopen the Minecraft Launcher, or sign out and back in, then check the Skins tab again. If the cape is selected but invisible in game, turn on Options → Skin Customization → Cape.

I redeemed it, but the cape isn't in Bedrock.

Make sure Bedrock is signed in to the same Microsoft account, restart the game and look under Dressing Room → Capes. Unlocks can take a little while to sync.

TikTok rewards aren't available in my country.

TikTok Game Rewards is limited to certain regions, while Twitch works in far more countries. Mojang notes that geographic limitations may apply, so if neither platform works where you live, you may not be able to earn this cape.

Can I still get it after October 14?

No. Watch time only counts until October 14, 2026 at 11:59 PM PT. If you already have a code, you can still redeem it until October 31.

Do I need Minecraft Dungeons II?

No. You only have to watch a Dungeons II stream. The cape is for Minecraft Java and Bedrock and isn't available inside Dungeons II itself.

Is a “free Aurora Cape code generator” real?

No. Codes only come from Twitch or TikTok after you watch. Never enter your Microsoft password anywhere except microsoft.com and minecraft.net.
