The short version: you can play every puzzle without an account, without giving us your name, and without us ever seeing your email address. We keep as little as we can, and everything below explains exactly what that is.
The first time you open the site we create an anonymous player id — a random string with no personal information in it — and store it in a signed cookie so your progress follows you between visits. Against that id we record which puzzles you finished, how many mistakes you made, your streak and your XP. That is all. We do not record your IP address, we do not build a profile of you, and we do not sell or share any of it.
Signing in is optional and only exists so your streak can follow you to another device and so you can appear on the leaderboards. We ask Discord for the minimum scope available and keep only two things: your Discord account id, and your display name. We never receive your password, we do not ask for your email address, and we do not keep the access token after the sign-in finishes. If you already played anonymously, that anonymous record is merged into your account rather than thrown away.
By default your avatar is one of our own Minecraft block icons — choosing one stores nothing but the name of the block. If you upload your own picture instead, it is cropped in your browser, sent to us, and stored on Cloudflare R2. Treat an uploaded avatar as public: anyone who can see your profile or the leaderboard can see it. Any player can report an avatar, and we can remove it by hand. Switching back to a block icon deletes the uploaded file.
We use Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity to understand which puzzles are too hard, where people get stuck, and whether the site is broken on a device we do not own. Both set their own cookies and both are operated by their respective companies under their own privacy policies. If you would rather not be measured, a tracking blocker or your browser's "Do Not Track" setting will stop them; the game works exactly the same either way.
We set one cookie of our own, holding the signed anonymous player id described above, plus a short-lived one during sign-in to protect against cross-site request forgery. Your browser also keeps a local copy of the current board so the puzzle still works if your connection drops. Clearing your site data removes all of it — along with your streak, if you have not signed in.
The site currently shows no ads. If we ever add them to cover hosting costs, we will name the provider on this page before the first ad goes live.
Not signed in? Clearing your browser data for this site erases everything we hold about you, because the only link is the cookie. Signed in? Write to us at the address below from your Discord display name and we will delete the account, the results, and any uploaded avatar. Profile pages are marked as not-indexable, so they are not meant to show up in search results.
The puzzle itself needs no account and collects nothing personal, so anyone can play it. Signing in and uploading an avatar are meant for players old enough to use Discord under its own terms. If you believe a child has uploaded a picture of themselves, tell us and we will remove it.
